Eight Dharmic Principles for Public Good

The Foundation’s approach brings eight interconnected principles into personal, organisational and public decision-making:

  1. Compassion — Karuṇā

  2. Non-violence and non-cruelty — Ahiṃsā

  3. Truthfulness — Satya

  4. Non-stealing and non-exploitation — Asteya

  5. Moderation, contentment and freedom from greed — Aparigraha

  6. Conscious duty towards oneself, society and nature — Kartavya

  7. Conscious charity — Dāna

  8. Protection of life-sustaining values and communities — Rakṣā

Together, these principles provide an ethical foundation for developing projects that protect human dignity, strengthen communities, reduce exploitation and support responsible stewardship of financial, cultural and natural resources.

Three Areas for G20 Brazil Partnership and Measurable Impact

1. Integrated Health and Wellbeing

Being Shiva Foundation supported an integrated understanding of wellbeing that recognises the relationship between physical, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual dimensions of human life.

  • Meditation, self-awareness and stress-management initiatives

  • Community wellbeing workshops and educational resources

  • Training programmes for volunteers, facilitators and community leaders

2. Education, Culture and Civilisational Knowledge

Partnerships in this area can connect contemporary education with enduring cultural and civilisational wisdom.

The Foundation collaborated with philanthropic bodies, community organisations, businesses and institutions that respect local knowledge and enable communities to participate in shaping their own futures.
