And The Only One Who Can Guilt-Trip You Like a Pro

Alright, let’s get one thing straight—Maa-Mother’s Day and Women's Day isn’t just a Hallmark holiday. In Sanatana Dharma, motherhood isn’t a role; being woman is not just about gender; it’s a cosmic force, it's an aspect of Shakti, the Divine Feminine. Maa isn’t just someone who created & raised you—she’s the very Shakti that moves the universe. She’s creation, preservation, and transformation all wrapped into one. And yes, she can also give you that one look that makes your entire life flash before your eyes; may be as your mother, as your lover, as your wife, sister or friend.
Why the Focus on Motherhood?
Because, let’s face it—while women are many things, the highest expression of the Divine Feminine is motherhood. And no, that doesn’t mean just popping out babies. Motherhood is a state of being, a way of nurturing, protecting, and creating life in all forms. A woman may or may not have children, but if she embodies love, care, strength, and wisdom, she is Maa in her own right. So yes, this article is about mothers, but more than that, it’s about the eternal spirit of motherhood that lives in every woman.
So today, let’s not just send WhatsApp forwards with stock images of flowers. Let’s actually get real about what it means to have Maa and/or Maa like Woman in our lives.
Why Spiritual Seekers Must Embody the Divine Mother
Think you can walk the spiritual path without embodying the Mother? Think again. Compassion, patience, unconditional love, the ability to nurture life (or at least not destroy it)—these are non-negotiables on the journey to higher consciousness. You want to attain Enlightenment but can’t handle minor inconveniences without losing your mind? Good luck. The Divine Feminine isn’t just about worshipping Devi—it’s about becoming her in thought, action, and presence. Until you can love like a mother, forgive like a mother, and create like a mother, you’re just another seeker lost in the cosmic traffic.
So, let's just learn about what qualities of Divine Feminine you must embody and you can learn that by knowing Maa-The Motherly aspect of Woman!
Maa: She is Power, Not Seeking It
You know how people say, “Women should be empowered”? Yeah, no. A woman is power. She doesn’t need it given to her—she is Shakti in motion—she is not seeking power; she is power, the unbroken flow of cosmic energy itself. Your mother doesn’t wait for validation. She’s been running entire ecosystems (aka households) without ever needing an award for it. And let’s be honest—if Maa had a LinkedIn, she’d have God-level experience with zero exaggeration.

She’s Not Just in the Universe—She Is the Universe
Mothers don’t belong to the universe. They are the universe. She does not need to be given a place in the universe—she is Prakriti (not me-the Creation!), the very fabric from which the universe is woven. Ever noticed how Maa can find your lost socks faster than Google search? That’s because she’s literally the thread holding your entire existence together.
She Purifies, She Burns, She Transforms
Ever seen your mom handle a crisis? It’s almost divine. Like the Ganga, a woman purifies all who come to her with devotion; like Agni, she burns away ignorance with the fire of her knowing. And if you think you can outsmart her, remember—she’s the original lie detector. She knew you were faking that fever before you even knew how to lie properly.

She Can Be Anything—Because She Already Is Everything
One day she’s holding your hand, the next day she’s throwing chappals (slippers) at you with sniper-level accuracy. She is not bound by form—she is Devi, limitless, taking the shape of whatever the moment calls her to be. She can switch from kind nurturer to strict disciplinarian in 0.2 seconds—even ChatGPT can't process that fast.

Her Silence is Sacred
Ever noticed how your mom doesn’t always have to say things? One look, and you know you’ve messed up. A woman’s silence is not emptiness—it is Mauna, the sacred void from which all creation is born. That silence isn’t just the absence of words—it’s an entire spiritual discourse on your foolishness.
She Speaks in the Language of the Cosmos
Ever had your mom scold you in a way that weirdly made you feel safe? She is the bija mantra of existence—every word she speaks carries the vibration of creation itself. When she says, “Wait till your father comes home,” it’s not just a warning. It’s a cosmic law being declared.

She Was Never Asleep—She Was Just Waiting
They say awakening is a journey. But a mother? She was always awake. The soul (Atman) of a mother does not awaken through permission; it awakens when she remembers she was never asleep. She’s been two steps ahead of you since before you were born. You thought you were being sneaky as a kid? She knew every single trick before you even tried them.
She Is Knowledge, Not a Seeker of It
Your mom isn’t Googling life lessons. She already knows. She is not a seeker of truth—she is Saraswati, the river of wisdom, the very source of knowledge flowing through time. She doesn’t need a degree in psychology—she’s been reading minds since before you could talk.
The Universe Bows When She Stands in Her Power
When a woman—especially a mother—fully steps into herself, the world shifts. When a woman walks in the fullness of her being, the cosmos bows, for she is none other than the divine made visible. That’s why your mom’s presence changes everything. She’s literally channeling the divine. Also, that’s why your dad gets so nervous when she’s mad.

She Is the Sound Before Sound
Before there was Om, there was her voice. Before there was light, there was her love. She is the unstruck sound of the Anahata, the eternal echo of love that needs no words to be known. And yes, that also applies to when she’s calling your full name across the house. If she uses your full name plus your middle name, prepare for divine judgment.
But What About Those Who Never Felt a Mother’s Love?
While we celebrate the greatness of mothers, we must also acknowledge a painful truth—some women may have given birth but never truly embodied motherhood. In Sanatana Dharma, motherhood is not just an act of giving birth, but an expression of divine nurturing, love, and sacrifice. Sadly, not every child receives that. Some children grow up longing for love that never came, for warmth that was replaced with coldness. To give life is biological, but to be a mother is spiritual. The scriptures remind us that when a mother does not embody love, the imbalance in Prakriti (the Creation!) itself is felt—for the divine feminine is meant to nourish, not neglect. To those who have suffered in such ways, may you find maternal love in the world around you—in the kindness of strangers, in the embrace of friends, in the arms of the universe itself. Because, as the Vedas teach us, love always finds a way to return home.

A Mother’s Mistakes and a Child’s Dharma
Mothers, though divine, are also human. They, too, make mistakes, carry wounds, and have struggles unseen by the world. But Sanatana Dharma teaches that a child’s duty—Maatr Devo Bhava—remains unchanged. No matter the imperfections, a mother is to be honoured, for she bore you, raised you, and shaped your journey. This does not mean accepting harm, but it does mean embracing understanding. Forgiveness, where possible, is a higher dharma, for in healing our bond with our mother, we heal a part of ourselves. Just as a river does not judge the land it flows through, so too must love remain, flowing even through the difficult terrains of life.

So, What Now?
Alright, here’s the deal: You don’t need a uterus or a Pinterest board full of cozy vibes to tap into the "motherly" side of the Divine Feminine. Spiritual seekers—of any gender—can absolutely embody this nurturing, protective energy. It’s about channeling the infinite patience, unconditional love, and strength to let someone else borrow your yoga mat without making it weird. It’s being the rock, the warm hug, and the "I got you" when life’s storms roll in. So, ditch the idea that it’s all about nurturing casseroles and diaper changes. Embrace the divine mom energy by being fiercely compassionate, without expecting to be thanked for it. That’s the real embodiment.
Women's Day and Mother’s Day isn’t just about brunches or gifts (though, yeah, get her something nice before she “accidentally” reminds you about it 20 times). It’s about seeing her for who she truly is. Not just your mother, sister, wife, lover, grandma, daughter, but Maa, Devi, Shakti, Prakriti—an infinite force wearing a human form. Also, keep in mind that Father, Husband, lover, Grandpa, male friend or your Son may be full of the Divine Feminine too. As I said; Gender doesn't matter! Atman doesn't have a Gender. Shakti-the Divine Feminine has no gender.
So, call her or him. Hug the divine feminine in whichever body form she is in. Touch her feet if she lets you. And most of all, honour the divine in her—today and every day.
Because, let’s be real. Without her, there is no you. And if she’s in a bad mood, there might not be a you for much longer. LOL! 🙏
Jai Shivay,
Prakriti
